«Hometown Glory» by Adel
После длительного перерыва продолжаем создавать подборку современных песен, которые можно использовать в средних и старших классах на уроках и дополнительных занятиях по английскому языку. На одном из уроков по теме «Жизнь в городе и деревне» в 7 классе (Unit 6) можно совместить приятное с полезным, предложив учащимся послушать и поработать над современной англоязычной песней «Hometown Glory» популярной британской певицы Adele. Разработанные мною задания к песне направлены на пополнение словарного запаса учащихся, развитие умения восприятия и понимания речи на слух, развитие умения говорения по изучаемой теме.
Before Listening
A) Составьте с учащимися ассоциограмму «My hometown», предложив каждому записать на доске по одному слову, с которым сразу же ассоциируется у них родной город (поселок или деревня), а затем кратко объяснить, почему у них именно такая ассоциация со своим родным местом.
B) Today we’re going to listen to the song «Hometown Glory» by Adele. Do you know this singer? What do you know about Adele?
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is an English singer and songwriter. She was born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins on May 5, 1988 in Enfield, North London. She came from a non-musical family but a very supportive one. Adele said that her mother used to set up a stage show for her in their own home with Adele being the performer and her mother’s friends being the audience. To boost her singing career, like many other hopeful musicians, Adele opened a MySpace account where she can display her songs and demos and ask for feedbacks. By 2004, she was already a popular singer on-line but only two years after that did she gain wider opportunity to showcase her talent. Within three days of graduating from the alma mater of such performers as Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis, Adele was offered a recording contract with XL records after a record executive heard one of her demos posted by a friend on MySpace. Adele released her first studio album in 2008 at age 19, a significant number which also became the album’s title. In 2009, her debut album «19» was nominated for 4 Grammy awards, of which she won 2. On January 24, 2011, Adele’s sophomore album, «21» was released and ultimately sold over 18 million copies, making it the top selling album of the 21st century. After taking a three-year break, Adele released her third studio album, 25, in 2015. It became the year’s best-selling album and broke first week sales records in the UK and US. The lead single, «Hello», became the first song in the US to sell over one million digital copies within a week of its release. Time magazine named her one of the most influential people in the world in 2012 and 2016. With sales of more than 100 million records, Adele is one of the best-selling recording artists in the world.
